Special Education

special educationSpecial Education is the core of Northwest Colorado BOCES.
The basis of special education is a federal law that requires states to provide a free and appropriate education for all children with disabilities. This legal mandate was first established in 1975, and most recently reauthorized by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA). The Colorado rules for the administration of IDEA is defined in the Exceptional Children's Education Act 1 CCR 301-8 (ECEA). Click here to view special education legislation and rules on the CDE website.
