General AssemblyCongratulations to the following Award winners from the 7th Annual Colorado Model United Nations Forum hosted by NW BOCES:

Superior Team- The Indonesia delegation passed their resolution that proposed an education task force to help build and fund solar-powered water pumps to improve water sanitation. (Max Kenney, Silas Leeson, Carina Creamer, Caroline Gilchrist, Emily Davidoff, Sophie Diehl, and Courtney Vargas- SSMS).

Outstanding Team-  The Brazil delegation passed their resolution that proposed a task force to establish and build Omni Processors to improve access to clean water. (Brodie Skinner, Elise Colby, Erik Belshaw, Indi Kretzschmar, Layton Morrison, Aly Goldman, and Bennett Jones-SSMS).

The above two awards are based on the quality of the written resolution, oral presentation, and delegate participation.

Best Presentation went to the speakers representing Spain- Emily Osborne, Igor Bergman, & Ximena Rodriguez- WGMS. 

Best Delegate went to Reagan McAdams who was a representative from Chile in the Economic & Social Council- EVMS. 

Best Written Resolution
went to the Botswana delegation whose resolution asked for stricter fines for poaching rhinoceros and elephant parts. (Reeves Kirby, Sophia Waters, Axel Kovach, Ellery Hodges, Claire Fisher, Liv Mason, and Arianna Tullis- SSMS).

Best Dressed was awarded to team Japan (Emma Bellaty, Calvin Ciccarelli, Luke Vechiarelli, Stephanie O'Flaherty, Lilliana Rust, Zandra Walker, and Major Powell- EGMS).

Approximately 160 Middle School Students came together for two days to debate the merit of the resolutions they had researched and developed since November. 26 Nations attended the event and met in Council Sessions on Day 1 to debate in small groups. Each council heard 5 or 6 resolutions. Then on Day 2 the top 8 scoring nations went on to present in front of the General Assembly. The sessions are led by Steamboat Springs High School student Ambassadors.
